Take On Tone
Our Story
Take On Tone was born out of a desire to empower musicians and repair technicians with an understanding of how guitar amplification works. We are enthusiastic about helping musicians create their amplified guitar tone by knowing how the electronic circuits effect tonal expression. Working on guitar amplifiers is not for everyone, but for those who wish to personalize and shape their guitar tone, Take On Tone is here to help.
Our Founder
John’s interest in music began at an early age, participating in vocal contests as a youth. As the son of an industrial engineer, he found himself with an insatiable desire to learn how things work. It started with model railroading and moved on to radio controlled airplanes, then car engines. This culminated into careers in technology and electronics, most recently as an amplifier design engineer. John has developed an acumen for understanding what guitarists want – the tone they hear in their head, with the ability to translate that into a working circuit design. His innovative design creativity and desire to serve others and inspire them to make music is the driving force behind Take On Tone. John is an avid reader and intentional continuous learner. He earned his MBA and MACE degrees at Dallas Baptist University.

Why We Do What We Do
At Take On Tone we believe that music is tremendously important. It is the embodiment and expression of an artist or group of artists. Guitar amplification, and more specifically vacuum tube amplification has made an immeasurable impact in the creation of music. Our mission is to create media content, educate, and inspire music creation through the understanding of guitar amplification electronics.
